Driver sentenced to prison for fatally stabbing tourist during road-rage fight in downtown San Diego [Breaking]
A driver who fatally stabbed an Illinois tourist in the heart during a road rage fight last year in downtown San Diego was sentenced Monday to 16 years to life in state prison.
According to authorities, the two men had a road-rage dispute that escalated into a brawl at Third Avenue and Market Street about 3 p.m. June 26, 2021. The fight broke up, and each man got back into his vehicle and drove off. Abdallah was taken to a hospital, where he died. Testimony from Lee’s trial indicated Abdallah had been stabbed in his heart.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Steven Stone rejected a defense motion for a reduced sentence on the grounds that Abdallah may have been the aggressor or had some culpability in the incident. The judge said he didn’t believe “in any way” that the evidence he heard at trial supported that contention.
