Driver killed in rollover crash Sunday night on I-15 in Escondido [Breaking]
A 38-year-old driver was killed when he was flung from his truck during a solo rollover crash late Saturday night, officials said.
The man was driving a Toyota Tundra pickup at around 11:30 p.m., transitioning from westbound State Route 78 to northbound Interstate 15, when his vehicle veered off the roadway for undetermined reasons, according to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Hunter Gerber. The name of the driver, an Escondido resident, was not immediately released.
The vehicle crashed into the right-shoulder barrier wall then rolled several times. The crash threw the driver from his truck. He died from before he could be taken to a hospital.Authorities said they don’t know yet if alcohol or drugs were involved. The CHP is asking anyone who may have information on the incident to call them at 643-3400.
