A driver who allegedly ran away from his car in Bolton and left two children under the age of four inside the vehicle has been arrested.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's road patrols followed what they say was a 'cloned' Honda Civic after it failed to stop when ordered to around 11pm yesterday . The driver abandoned the vehicle in Barnes Terrace, Farnworth, and attempted to run away but was detailed by police.

He was given a breath test that produced a reading of 65 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath - almost double the legal limit for motorists - while police spotted the two young children inside the car. The man was arrested on suspicion road traffic offences and child neglect.Greater Manchester Police Traffic said in a tweet: "This cloned Honda Civic would fail to stop for #SRTT patrols in Farnworth just being 11pm before being abandoned on Barnes Terrace where the driver was detained.
