Witnesses told police that a car travelling south crossed the median and hit a northbound SUV.
One driver was killed and the other suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash on the Nanaimo Parkway on Saturday.
The highway is divided between Dunster and Doumont by a wide grassy median.
