A motorist is in custody after fleeing a fatal crash in west Oak Cliff on Friday afternoon, Dallas police say.
Police said a black Lexus SUV was speeding eastbound in the 3400 block of West Illinois Avenue about 5:30 p.m. when its driver lost control and collided with a gray Oldsmobile minivan.A 17-year-old girl in the van’s backseat was struck in the head by one of the trees, police said. The girl, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at a hospital.Police said the SUV’s driver didn’t stop after the crash. Authorities later took the driver into custody at a gas station several miles away.
