Thousands lost power in Central Saanich on Saturday after a driver hit and damaged a power pole on Wallace Drive.

As crews were working to restore power knocked out during the storm on the weekend, thousands lost power in Central Saanich after a driver hit and damaged a power pole.

Sgt. Paul Brailey with Central Saanich Police says the driver of a pickup truck had hit the pole and the truck got stuck in the drainage ditch.“There was a driver that was still in the car when the police and fire got to the scene,” Brailey told CHEK News. Brailey says the driver was taken to the Victoria General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
