Barnes was riding his motorcycle to meet his wife at a Sheetz convenience store in Upper Allen Township at 7:30 p.m. on Father’s Day, according to relatives.So his wife Carrie dialed his cell phone number until someone answered at 7:42 p.m. It was a Silver Spring Township police officer, and he had some terrible news.
Barnes was wearing a helmet and gloves and had both hands on the handlebars, according to Virginia Weiser, who was walking nearby in a parking lot for a new office building with her best friend and his dog. Officers from Silver Spring Township and state police both told PennLive drivers can turn left across a double-yellow center line into a field where there is no marked driveway if the driver owns the property, yields to oncoming traffic and makes the turn when it’s safe.
