Driver, 41, killed in collision near Barrio Logan off-ramp [Breaking]
A 41-year-old man died Wednesday night after driving through a red light and colliding with another driver who had just exited a freeway in Barrio Logan, San Diego police said.
The crash occurred about 7:50 p.m. on Main Street at the exit ramp from state Route 15, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said. The victim was headed west on Main Street in a 2007 Saturn when he came upon other vehicles stopped at a red light, Buttle said. Instead of stopping, he drove around the other vehicles and through the red light.
At the same moment, a 21-year-old woman driving a 2005 Ford Focus was exiting the freeway and turning left onto Main Street, Buttle said. The Saturn clipped the Focus in the intersection and spun out, slamming into a large concrete support pillar for the nearby freeway overpass. The woman driving the Focus was uninjured in the crash.
