The director of Reach Out and Read at Dothan Pediatrics said they have been doing this for nearly 20 years and they hope to continue it for 20 more.DOTHAN, Ala. - Dothan Pediatrics and Reach Out and Read Alabama are making the doctors’ office a little more comfortable for kids while also encouraging a good habit.“Out of all the children’s books, this is one that’s been beloved for years. From the time I was a child to reading to my own children,” said Dr.
“As part of our developmental assessment and part of our discussions with parents about what they can do to benefit their children, we always talk about reading,” Tamburin said. “I always like it when I give a book at a checkup and the parents mention ‘the book you gave them at the last checkup is their favorite book, we read it every night at bedtime,’” Tamburin explained. “It’s really rewarding and the kids love it, the parents love it and it’s fun for the providers too.”
