The versatility of the two Dothan High athletes – soccer player Caroline Ezzell and track and field standout John Webb – made them attractive targets for college coaches and it
Ezzell signed with Auburn University-Montgomery, while Webb will be taking his talents to William-Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. AUM competes on the Division II level, while William-Penn competes on the NAIA level.
“She could be successful anywhere she puts her. I could see her as an outside back and I could also see her in the middle of the field.” “He picked the four events that he felt he was best suited to do and would help out the team, because he’s a team player as well. So he was part of a relay that made it to the state as well. He also qualified for the state in the 200, 400 and triple jump.”“He never missed a day of practice and was always ready to work,” Sheppard said. “He had great leadership and just really got along well with everybody.
“She always leads by example and has been one of the hardest workers and probably one of the most competitive that I’ve had for the last few years for sure.” Not only did Ezzell play on the high school level, but has been involved with the Dothan Shockers travel club, which his coached by Scott Hogan.
Webb, who lived in Montgomery before moving to Dothan during his sophomore school year, had interest in track at an early age as well.
