Tuesday's win secures home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. It’s also the Cavs’ 50th win, the 12th time accomplishing that in franchise history and the first since 2017-18 – the final year of the LeBron James era.

“It’s an accomplishment for sure,” Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. “Winning 50 games in the NBA is not easy. The NBA season is long, it’s grueling, it’s difficult, it’s emotional.

Mitchell exploded for 43 points on 15 of 23 shooting, 5 of 9 from 3-point range and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line in 41 spectacular minutes. He is the first NBA player with four consecutive games of at least 40 points since James Harden did it five straight times in 2018-19. Mitchell tallied 12 of those points in the fourth quarter, including the team’s final six to hold off the feisty Magic.
