Sault Mayor Matthew Shoemaker called the program "a tremendous example of the power of community-based programming." The summer program will begin in July and run for eight weeks and food items - including fresh fruit/vegetables, milk, cheese, and bread - will be distributed.“Healthy eating habits have a significant impact on the achievement of optimal health, growth and intellectual development for youth, and the program is essential for ensuring consistent access to nutritious food,” said Emily Tremblay, Community Services Supervisor, Algoma Family Services.
“Sault Ste. Marie has been incredibly supportive of our efforts, and the continued support of the community will ensure we continue to reach thousands of local children.”
