Trump suggested that Greene's constituents would lose out from the ban, writing:"They don't deserve what's happened to them on places like low-life Twitter and Facebook."

Twitter has not blocked Greene's official congressional account, which staffers appear to post on infrequently. Trump's own Twitter account was blocked in the fallout from the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol in January last year. His account was"permanently suspended... due to the risk of further incitement of violence", the company said at the time.Greene, who has been a consistent ally of Trump, responded to her own ban in a statement on Sunday.

In a post on the Gettr platform, which was founded by Trump's former aide Jason Miller, she attacked Twitter and said:"Twitter is an enemy to America and can't handle the truth.The congresswoman also contactedon Sunday and supplied an additional statement, adding:"They can't successfully complete a Communist revolution when people tell the truth.
