Dolly Parton Withdrawals From Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nomination: ‘I Must Respectfully Bow Out’
The singer explained via an Instagram post that she didn’t feel quite rock and roll enough to accept the honor, given most of her music falls under the genre of country.
“Dolly here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right,” wrote in the Instagram post. “I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.”singer hinted that once she releases music that is in the rock genre, she’d be happy to be reconsidered. “I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again—if I’m ever worthy,” she continued in the post.
