Hill said the house they were staying in was outside Mazatlan and away from the violence, but they could see smoke in the distance and learned about what was going on.Even with things appearing to settle down on Friday, Hill said the family didn’t feel safe staying, especially since they could no longer remain in the villa they had rented.
