Medics at the British Medical Association annual conference were urged to follow the example of the rail unions and ‘channel our inner Mick Lynch’. It calls for doctors to make at least 25% of appointments available for online booking while also extending opening hours. Doctors argue the terms are too inflexible, overly bureaucratic and take power away from GPs to decide how to allocate funding to best serve their communities.While GPs would be unlikely to stop providing emergency and urgent care, they could refuse to carry out other routine work and cut their hours.
