One of the most surprising locals on the list is Barbara Eden, who catapulted to global fame when she took the titular role in"I Dream of Jeannie." Eden, who went by Barbara Huffman as a girl, grew up in San Francisco with her mother and stepfather. Early on, she expressed an interest in performing. As a teen, she studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music while attending Lincoln High.

According to the 1949 Lincoln yearbook, Eden was known to friends as"Huffie," and she listed music among her"likes." Two years later, Eden won the title of Miss San Francisco. By the mid-1950s, she'd become a regular on Johnny Carson, and she appeared on episodes of many of top TV shows of the era, from"I Love Lucy" to"Rawhide." In 1965, she was approached about a role in a new show about a genie named Jeannie.
