The Teal Mask is the first half of a planned two-part DLC called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, taking trainers away from the Paldea region and to the new setting of Kitakami.
The two-part DLC concept for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet follows up on a model first established in Pokémon Sword and Shield, the first entries to feature major expansions as downloadable content. The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra introduced new areas, Pokémon, items, and more, a laundry list that The Teal Mask appears to be taking on as well.
The Teal Mask DLC Adjusts Pokémon Levels By Completion Although jumping into The Teal Mask at low levels might seem intimidating, the DLC doesn't put the same power behind its Pokémon for trainers who haven't completed the story of Scarlet and Violet. Finishing "First Day of School" and jumping on the plane to Kitakami will result in the beginning of the DLC targeting a similar difficulty to that point in the main story.
Whether starting Pokémon Scarlet & Violet for the first time or going with a fresh save file, it doesn't take too long to access The Teal Mask DLC with low-level Pokémon. Completing The Teal Mask will be required to start The Indigo Disk, the second part of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero that's set to release in Winter 2023.
