Dr. Melanie Green said DNA from two blood samples collected by police investigators in Moosehunter's bathroom were a match to Martell's DNA
Green said DNA from two blood samples collected by police investigators in Moosehunter’s bathroom — a swab taken from the surface of an inside door knob, and a swab from the bowl of the bathroom sink — were a match to Martell’s DNA.
In answer to questions about her credentials, Green said she has completed “thousands” of DNA files and testified in 25 court cases. She said DNA testing technology is so sophisticated and accurate that the chance that the DNA found in the bathroom belonged to anyone other than Martell was near impossible: one in 110 quindecillion .
Martell sat in the glass-enclosed prisoner’s dock in court, his head shaven, his arms extensively tattooed, and a brown plaid shirt draped over his shoulders. He appeared to be take notes during Green’s testimony and did not make eye contact with anyone in the gallery.Article content
