The District of North Vancouver has declared a state of local emergency and issued a mandatory evacuation order for six properties on Panorama Drive in Deep Cove due to flooding in the area.
The district announced the mandatory evacuation order and state of local emergency due to "the impacts of the extreme rainfall event and flooding on October 19 and the continued rainfall on October 20," according to information posted the district's X social media account. "The state of local emergency order and resulting evacuation come after inspections by qualified professionals during the morning of October 20 found that potential failure of private infrastructure is deemed to create a risk to public safety," the statement read. "The decision to declare a state of local emergency and issue a mandatory evacuation is not taken lightly.
