Since then, though, Disney has been quiet about when those changes will be implemented. Two and a half years later, we know: Orlando’s Splash Mountain will close permanently on Jan. 23, 2023, to become Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, based on “The Princess and the Frog.” The ride will reopen in late 2024, Disney said, and “will take guests on a musical adventure inspired by the beloved story and characters from the fan-favorite film.” The storyline picks up after the events of the movie; in it, Tiana and Louis the alligator are preparing for a Mardi Gras celebration. With the closure announcement Friday, Disney also released a new piece of concept art showing Tiana and Louis with a horde of furry friends and a ride boat floating past them.
