Following the news that Disney+ is developing a new Daredevil show, a report suggests it will be a continuation of the previous Netflix series.
A new report indicates that Disney+’s new Daredevil series will be a continuation of the existing show which first aired on Netflix. Originally created by Drew Goddard, the series starred Charlie Cox as the blind lawyer-turned-vigilante Matt Murdock. After running for three seasons, Daredevil was cancelled in November 2018, soon to be followed by each of the remaining Marvel series on Netflix.
Thankfully, with that period now expired, fans were treated to two surprise returns late last year in the form of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk in the Hawkeye series and Cox’s own cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. This sent the fandom into a flurry of speculation. Theories about whether a proper Daredevil revival was in the cards began circulating as soon as their MCU returns were revealed.
For devout fans of Daredevil, this is most certainly the best possible scenario and with any luck, they may be treated to confirmations of other returning characters such as Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page and Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson. Another character who fans will be waiting with bated breath to hear about would be Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin"Dex" Poindexter, AKA Bullseye.
Of course, these reports are not official until such time as they come directly from Disney’s or Marvel Studio’s mouth, so while they may indicate the recently announced Daredevil will be a continuation, the studio may still elect to take a slightly different route. Especially with the introduction of the multiverse within the MCU, Marvel may decide to make the events of the previous seasons take place within a different reality than that of Earth-616.
