, discount airline Flair Airlines says business has improved amid continued industry scrutiny after a turbulent year.
In both April and May of this year the airline reported it achieved 90 per cent load factor — the proportion of seats that are sold relative to the total number of seats that are available. However, the company did not provide any specifics on its financial situation, as it is a privately owned company and doesn’t make those numbers public. Experts contacted by the Star said that without those numbers, the long-term viability of the airline is still unclear.
Flair’s countersuit claims that “it is very common for airlines to be in minor, and, in many cases, major arrears, in respect of the various payments due under aircraft leases, without lessors taking enforcement action.”
