The early plan to reroute bus and bike lanes down neighboring streets could spare five businesses from the bulldozer.
A new concept for how to route rail, bus and bikes through the West Campus area could spare Dirty Martin's from the wrecking ball, but the owner of the 98-year-old restaurant is not ready to celebrate yet.
The new plans call for routing bus and bicycle lanes away from Guadalupe Street between 27th and 29th Streets. Northbound buses and bikes would be routed down Hemphill Park, one block to the east. Southbound buses and bikes would go down Nueces Street, one block to the west. Most of the Drag south of 27th Street would have a vehicle lane in each direction reserved exclusively for CapMetro buses.on the chopping block.
But the plans are still conceptual. The finer details will be hammered out as ATP drafts detailed blueprints. The agency has started a lengthy federal environmental review process that requires a far more detailed explanation to the public than anything revealed so far.
