Nova Scotia Health will partner with the digital health company Varian to create a single access point for cancer patient referrals, triage, and treatment.

“We know that cancer treatment needs to be co-ordinated very effectively,” she said at a news conference in Halifax. “It has to have specific information, cancer-care specific information, that can seamlessly integrate with our hospital system.” The system will send orders to the drug information system, replacing the current problem-prone paper system, facilitate communication with oncologists and will provide data analysis.
Cancer patients and their families deserve to know that they are receiving the best possible care, delivered on the fastest possible timeline, said Health Minister Michelle Thompson.
