The text messages were made public Thursday by the Public Order Emergency Commission during testimony by Alberta’s assistant deputy minister of public safety and emergency services Martin Degrand.
“I was disappointed to learn of your own reaction to our efforts to respond to the threat to critical infrastructure and the integrity of our international borders posed by illegal blockades.” Degrand testified mostly about how the provincial government handled the significant Freedom Convoy blockade that occurred at Coutts, just kilometres from the U.S. border.Article content
Police got so desperate to find towing assistance that they extended their search efforts to Saskatchewan, British Columbia, the Canadian Armed Forces , online classifieds, and even the United States, he noted.
