Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. DKS, -2.94% said Tuesday it plans to add 8,600 seasonal workers this holiday season. The company’s National Signing Day will take place Oct. 3 at which it will recruit for all of its outlets from DICK’S Sporting Goods to Public Lands, DICK’S House of Sport, and Going, Going, Gone! stores across the country.
The sporting goods retailer said it’s planning to close all stores and distribution centers on Thanksgiving Day, which takes place Nov. 23 this year. But athletes will be able to shop online that day and stores will reopen on Black Friday. Interested applicants can apply online and then visit their local store for an interview. The stock has fallen 11% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.40% has gained 13%.
