Gallen gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Dodgers on Thursday, saying later he might have tired early in part because of how hard -- and fast, thanks to the pitch clock -- he had to work during a 27-pitch third inning. … Gallen owns a 3.98 ERA against the Padres in his career. They were one of the few teams he did not post stellar numbers against last year, when he logged a 4.96 ERA in three starts. … Darvish will be making his first start of the season.
