Forget building. Dexter Lawrence thinks the Giants have a finished product.
Andrew Thomas singed an extension that’ll keep him with the Giants through 2029.Daniel Jones has emerged as the Giants’ quarterback and a key part of their core.And that plan does include some winning, with the 9-7-1 regular-season mark last year and a wild-card playoff victory over the Vikings the appetizer.
“Just shows the belief the organization has in us,” Lawrence said. “And the hard work that we put in to earn that. And I’m excited, ’cause things like that build confidence into a person. The more confidence we have, the better the team will be.”That helped lead to winning, which helped lead to the Giants making a commitment to him.
“It’s amazing,” wideout Darius Slayton said of the money being handed out. “ ’Cause like everyone says, it’s a tough place to play. When it’s not going well, everybody sucks. So it’s good to be on the other side of that. “Obviously, we were able to win some games last year and guys were able to perform at a high level, and they’re starting to get rewards for the fruits of their labor. For me, it’s like, you see all the hours of off-time, the time they put in the film room and the weight room out there by themselves. Seeing that pay off for guys is awesome.”While every win last season represented a step forward, every loss this year will be looked at as a step backward.
