Event takes place Sept. 28 at Rankin Arena to help camp open for 2025 summer season
A special fundraiser dedicated to supporting the reopening of Camp McDougall for the 2025 summer season is taking place next month and the community is invited to join in the festivities.
"The Sweet Autumn Shindig promises to be a memorable occasion with a variety of activities for all ages, a delicious autumn-themed roast beef dinner, games, and silent auction," the camp said in a news release. All proceeds will go directly toward ensuring that Camp McDougall can reopen and provide a "safe, enriching, and unforgettable camp experience for children in the region", the camp said.
The camp closed suddenly in July 2023 saying a lack of key staffers including a cook and certified lifeguards made it impossible to stay open.Camp McDougall is a co-ed Christian summer camp for ages 6 to 17, located just west of Thessalon on the shores of Lake Huron.
