The suspect was 17 years old at the time of the home invasion and murder, detectives said. His bond was set at $350,000.
"It's extremely tragic, but he was murdered on his 29th birthday in his home in front of his family," Lt. Scott Heinemeyer said.On Oct. 16, 2019, Estorffe, his wife, and two young children were asleep in their home in the 6900 block of Glen Rosa Drive when investigators said the 21-year-old broke in through a window.Estorffe was shot to death when Carpy -- and possibly other intruders -- confronted the father.
During Thursday's press conference, officials wouldn't say if they believed the attack was targeted or random. "Capt. Simons and I both spoke to Mr. Estorffe right after the arrest. He was very happy to hear that," Heinemeyer said. "He said he had been waiting on that day since his son's birthday."
