Despite a series of Grand Canyon deaths, tourists are still drawn to the edge.

There are a few feet of dirt, trees and rocks spreading from the side of the path to the rim’s edge. Parts of the path are lined with blocks of rock. Not all visitors carried such bravado. Some visitors reached out for tree trunks and branches as they apprehensively moved along paths or stopped several feet back from the rim's edge.
