DOJ closes more than 50 desegregation cases, ending federal oversight that in some school districts had continued for more than 60 years.

DOJ closes more than 50 desegregation cases, ending federal oversight that in some school districts had continued for more than 60 years. The Justice Department is closing out more than 50 desegregation cases that have been sitting on federal court dockets for decades.

Division proudly announces the dismissal of 50+ desegregation cases originally filed in the 1960s & ’70s! Ending outdated consent decrees means these school districts can finally redirect taxpayer dollars back to students. A+…“In this administration, we are ending prolonged federal oversight of these school districts because the effort does not reflect the reality of those classrooms today,” Dhillon said.

“In some cases, school districts have been under federal control for more than 60 years. Now these local school districts can redirect taxpayer dollars back to benefitting students, instead of funding onerous and outdated consent decrees. ”“In this administration, we are ending prolonged federal oversight of these school districts because the effort does not reflect the reality of those classrooms today,” said…grew out of federal litigation against school districts that had operated racially segregated systems.

DOJ is reviewing the remaining cases individually and says it will seek dismissal after determining a district has achieved “unitary status. ”districts could be required to answer dozens of statistical questions and file court motions before changing school feeder patterns or building a new high school.of school bus drivers and examined yearbooks to determine the race of students participating in extracurricular activities and being selected for homecoming royalty, according to the official.the Dyersburg Board of Education in 1966 in a desegregation case over racially segregated public schools.

DOJ monitored the district for the next 60 years. This February, a federal court declared the district unitary and dismissed the case with prejudice after DOJ determined it had eliminated the vestiges of its former“Compliance means closure. When school districts comply in good faith with court orders to eliminate the vestiges of past discrimination, the federal government has no legitimate reason to continue monitoring,” Dhillon said.

“After sixty years of federal control, it’s time for Dyersburg City Schools to redirect the time, energy, and taxpayer dollars spent on reporting requirements to directly improving education in the community. ” These orders had a purpose. They went after unlawful dual school systems and kept federal oversight in place while districts dismantled them. But 60 years later, DOJ lawyers were still checking the race of bus drivers and flipping through yearbooks.

At some point, compliance has to end the case. That is the point Dhillon is making now. If a district has met the legal standard and a judge agrees, the case is closed, not suspended, not revisited. Done.

You can’t fly criminal migrant invaders from max security prisons in Venezuela in transport category planes and not leave sufficient evidence to permanently abolish the lying, satanic Democrat crime Cabal via RICOChange the race a bit and this was literally the plot premise for Mississippi Burning…. one of the many movies that taught doe eyed kids to hate the white devils and only whiteys who were self declared racial allies were good.

Or maybe reassign those efforts to the University systems which keep claiming they don’t use impermissible race based factors for admission, hiring, promotion …yet their % haven’t changed after being ordered to stop …despite these same Universities claims in their briefings to the CT that ending use of race as predominant factor would drastically shrink the %. Lets put the University systems under the microscope with a monitor and a pre clearance regime for 5 or 6 decades.

That should be plenty of time to clean out the rot. A more effective way would to be to stop federal underwriting of student loans and mandate that the universities underwrite their student loans. That’s a decent idea. Personally I’d limit federal student loan to STEM though I don’t see how either of our student loan proposals directly confronts and discourages/ends race based discrimination more effectively than victory in court with a monitor and/or pre clearance regime imposed.

“This February, a federal court declared the district unitary and dismissed the case with prejudice after DOJ determined it had eliminated the vestiges of its former de jure segregated system. ”Back when I was in college, the black students segregated themselves, taking over parts of the Student Union where whitey knew to stay away. Or what about the black fraternities? I wonder if they’d face the same scrutiny and harassment that an all-white fraternity would.

If blacks want to have a fraternity, so be it. Freedom of association. If a sorority wishes to restrict membership to left handed Lithuanian lesbians , they have the right to do so.
