Other U.S. officials have not adhered to his script. Putin is banking on the prospect of weakness among western democracies. Why should he interpret the restraints imposed on Ukraine and the probing efforts by freelancing western officials in any other way?
Ukrainians are carrying the burden of the fight against Russia and suffering immense human and physical casualties. Their erstwhile western allies have kept their hands clean in a conflict that has already claimed more than 100,000 casualties on each side and displaced millions of Ukrainian citizens.Article content
