An 18-year-old man was found fatally shot late Tuesday in a wooded area of northwest Houston, officials said.
Deputies received a call about a medical emergency in the 7900 block of Shady Grove Drive and arrived around 10:45 p.m. to find the man dead at the scene, Sgt. Ben Beall of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told On Scene reporters.
Officials said the man’s family had attempted to reach him earlier that day, but hadn’t been able to and tracked him to the subdivision. The Harris County Flood Control District had recently purchased and razed most of the homes nearby, so the area is mostly overgrown and wooded, Beall said. Investigators were searching for the shooter and a motive in connection to the shooting as of Wednesday morning.
