Deja Bù: Mark reconnects with Jessica Harnois, founder Bù Wines | SaltWireCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Medical Society of P.E.I. is stepping away from recruiting physicians after managing a program known as physicians recruiting physicians for three years.
However, in an Oct. 31 email to members, MSPEI president Krista Cassell said in the program’s three-year tenure, it did not succeed in “creating more cohesion between the physician hiring and onboarding process” and in reducing recruitment barriers. “My feeling was MSPEI decided to give some space to Health P.E.I. to take on more of that role. And, as a result of that, MSPEI took a step back from the recruitment space.”In an interview on Nov. 3, Miller said the MSPEI’s role in recruitment in P.E.I. has been unique, given that the organization functions like a “union of sorts” for physicians.“My feeling was MSPEI decided to give some space to Health P.E.I. to take on more of that role.
In a statement, Health P.E.I. said the removal of the MSPEI in physician recruitment means it will be doing more of the daily work of recruiting, hiring and onboarding physicians through outreach and online recruitment marketing. Health P.E.I. will play more of a role in recruitment after the management of a physician recruitment program has transitioned from the Medical Society of P.E.I. to the province. - SaltWire fileShe said Health P.E.I. has determined what vacancies there are, what postings look like and when they are posted.
