The Denver area is expected to get about an inch of snow today, with the storm wrapping up by noon.
A snowstorm spreading down from the mountains brought heavy wet snow to the metro area Monday, where most of it was expected to fall before noon, with an inch or more accumulating, according to the National Weather Service.
The high temperature in Denver should hit 38 degrees and Monday’s low will be 16 degrees, the weather service reports. The snow and melting snow created slick roads Monday morning, leading to accidents. The Colorado State Patrol issued a warning, and Fort Collins police declared an accident alert. The weather service issued a winter weather advisory for Colorado’s northeastern plains, warning of snowy conditions through Monday. In northeastern Colorado, forecasters said up to six inches of snow could fall with wind gusts at speeds up to 40 miles per hour.Snow will decrease across the Front Range Urban Corridor this morning. However, the snow will continue across the far northeastern plains through 6 pm.
