A probationary firefighter with the Denver Fire Department has been terminated after an arrest for investigation of insurance fraud.
Michael G. Chalchesa was arrested by Denver police on investigation of four charges of felony insurance fraud, the fire department said in a news release. Police notified fire department officials of the arrest on Thursday afternoon.
“Probationary Firefighter Chalchesa has been terminated as an employee with the Denver Fire Department effective immediately,” the release said. The allegations leading to the arrest occurred prior to Chalchesa being hired by the department. The Colorado Attorney General’s Office is part of an ongoing investigation.
