Famed former NBA player Dennis Rodman is planning a trip to Russia to help with Brittney Griner's release
NATIONWIDE — Six months.
The U.S. State Department has already urged American citizens not to travel to Russia due to the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces. A Russian court sentenced Griner to nine years in a Russian penal colony for having vape cartridges that contained hashish oil in luggage that were found during a search at the Sheremetyevo Airport near Moscow. Griner’s lawyers have said they plan to appeal the “unreasonable” verdict. President Joe Biden described the conviction as “unacceptable,” insisting that he’d continue to “work tirelessly” to secure her release.
