Dennis Quaid, Matthew McConaughey record video to encourage Texas filmmaking

encouraging bipartisan legislation to promote filmmaking in the Lone Star State. Among those taking part are Dennis Quaid, Matthew McConaughey, Owen Wilson, Billy Bob Thornton, Woody Harrelson and Glen Powell.

The three-minute-and-forty-seven-second video, directed by actor/filmmaker Jeremy John Wells, is called"Good for Texas"and is meant to highlight the economic benefits to the state of beefing up its filmmaking incentive program which is generally seen as lacking in comparison to neighboring states. The project started as a conversation between Wells and George Lane, senior advisor to attorney general Dan Paxton, at the South by Southwest festival in March.

That's how Wells, Lane and Quaid ended up joining forces to make"Good for Texas." The project had a quick turnaround time of just three weeks in order for it to be seen in the current legislative session. "This is not a Hollywood welfare program to pay for private jets and privileged lifestyles back in California," Harrelson says in the video."And showcasing our great state on the big screen," adds Quaid.
