He is also expected to discuss discrepancies in his interview with police on July 7, 2011, the day Richard Oland’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on the floor of his office in Saint John, N.B.The trial may hear from the defence team’s blood spatter expert before Dennis Oland is sworn in as a witness.
The investment adviser was charged with his father’s murder in 2013 and has steadfastly maintained his innocence. He was convicted in a jury trial in 2015, but that verdict was set aside on appeal in 2016 and the new trial ordered.
