A Campton Hills letter to the editor: The popularity of singling out and demonizing a group of fellow human beings by Republican politicians and candidates for office is disgraceful beyond words.

The popularity of singling out and demonizing a group of fellow human beings by Republican politicians and candidates for office is disgraceful beyond words. It's understandable for some to claim to believe in God to get along with their neighbors. But for those who do believe in God, they shame themselves when they demonize others.

After all, if you believe in God, then you must realize that he/she/it created all of us. You may not be a member of the LGBTQ+ crowd or those who wish to become USA citizens, but they are deserving of equal respect. If you can't accept this, then at least be honest with yourself and others by admitting that you really don't believe in God.

Why any member of a monotheistic religion would vote for those who demonize is a mystery beyond comprehension. These politicians may call themselves citizens, but their demonization of others is surely out of step with American aspirations. Shame on them.
