A 'demonic' killer who savagely stabbed his former partner to death will serve a life sentence in jail. in her own home.
"I am satisfied that so grave is this case, and such is the risk that you pose, that the only sentence here can be one of imprisonment for life," sentencing judge Alan Conrad QC told him. When he is transferred to jail, Mahmood will serve at least 10 years behind bars before he can be considered for release by the Parole Board.
"He can never forgive himself but he prays for mercy." In the weeks prior to the killing, Mahmood had reported suffering from mental health problems and had asked to be sectioned. About two-and-a-half minutes later he got back into the waiting taxi. "I can hear screaming in my head, pray for me brother," Mahmood told the taxi driver after getting back in the car.
In tributes to Tamby at an earlier hearing, Shalina Miah, one of her best friends, said: "Tamby was one of the most kind-hearted, fun loving, goofy people you could ever meet. She could have you in fits of laughter without even trying.
