Breaking: Democrat Edwards will face runoff in Louisiana governor's race
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, fell short of the majority of the vote needed to clinch reelection in Saturday’s all-party primary and will face a Republican candidate in a one-on-one general election on Nov. 16, The Associated Press projected.
The race for second place in the primary was still too close to call, with businessman Eddie Rispone holding a slim advantage over Rep. Ralph Abraham for the right to challenge Edwards in a head-to-head matchup next month.
