Tommy Chong, who turns 81 in May, says he and partner Cheech Marin, 72, have always been ahead of the pot curve.

Chong laughed loudly before divesting himself of any responsibility for my inability to do advanced math. Marin, 72, and Chong — who together have made seven movies including the classic Up in Smoke, and six gold records including the Grammy Award-winning Los Cochinos — decided to resurrect their original partnership just over a decade ago.
All these decades later, Cheech and Chong are literally legit. It’s OK now for grandparents to tell grandkids they smoked pot. Chong said their audiences often contain three generations.“I’m not blown away because I was way ahead of the curve, like you said. I just sat and waited for everybody to catch up — and that’s what I’m doing now.”
While it has been 41 years since the movie Up in Smoke blew everyone’s minds, Chong and Marin have never really been far from the business. Both have had strong solo acting careers in TV and film.
