The Senators allowed the Kraken to come storming back and even take a brief third period lead, but Alex DeBrincat\u0027s winner with 2:23 left game sealed the victory for the Senators.
“We had a great start,” coach D.J. Smith told reporters in Seattle. “Before you know it, it’s 3-3, but that’s a big win for us. To stay with it the way we did, and find timely goals, that’s as fast a team as we’ve played and that’s a really good team. This game started a difficult stretch for the Senators with eight of the club’s next 10 games against teams in the playoffs. This club has faced plenty of adversity, but the Senators are now without top goalies Anton Forsberg and Cam Talbot.
Sogaard made his second straight start after the club dropped a 5-0 decision to the Chicago Blackhawks Monday night to start this trip. He came into this game with a 4-1-1 record with 2.77 goals-against average and a .902 save-percentage. Vincent Dunn fired home a blast at 3:23 of the third to give the Kraken its first lead of the game as the shot beat Sogaard high on the glove side.
Seattle completed the comeback with the club’s third unanswered goal at 8:11. Only seconds after the Kraken killed off an Ottawa power play, Jared McCann scored his second of the game when Daniel Sprong’s shot bounced off his stick and by Sogaard.
