On Twitter, @ToonHive noted that the Teen Titans Go! "Warner Bros. 100th Anniversary Special" episode didn't premiere as scheduled. The special episode was scheduled to premiere on September 23, but instead of seeing the Teen Titans act as tour guides on the Warner Bros. Discovery's studio lot to several characters from all over the studio's history, a new episode of Teen Titans Go! featuring the team stuck on their opening credits sequence aired.
If it was indeed planned, then Teen Titans Go!'s Warner Bros. anniversary twist keeps in line with what the show is known for. The reveal that the animated series' episode won't start because Control Freak wants to keep the heroes trapped in their title sequence is a perfect Teen Titans Go!-style explanation for why the Warner Bros. special was missing. It continues the animated series' history of meta jokes perfectly.
Teen Titans Go!'s meta jokes have included other DC characters and franchises in the past, with the most notable case being the use of one of the cartoon's movies to finally link the original and rebooted Teen Titans shows. 2019's Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans allowed the two cartoon teams to meet each other with their respective tones and designs intact.
