Festivities at Seaman Stadium will also include a home\u002Drun derby, fireworks, autographs and a visit from World Series champion Matt Stairs.

A home-run derby opens the festivities, and fireworks will wrap up the special occasion — the second of its kind in as many WCBL seasons.

“We are hosting back-to-back all-star games,” said John Ircandia, founder and managing director of the Dawgs. “I can tell you none of the 6,000 fans who attended last year’s affair went home disappointed. A full day of fun activities for fans of all ages, a fantastic home run derby and a game featuring the best baseball talent in an East-versus-West showdown that took extra innings to decide.”

The all-star event begins at 5 p.m. with a fan-fave home-run derby. One member from eight of the WCBL squads will swing for the fence — Ryan Dauphinee from the Weyburn Beavers, Austin Gurney from the Moose Jaw Miller Express, Ethan Murdoch from the Swift Current 57s, Nathan Tarver from the Medicine Hat Mavericks, Shea Bowen from the Sylvan Lake Gulls, Alfonso Villalobo from the Fort McMurray Giants, Eric Rataczak from the Brooks Bombers and Nash Crowell from the host Dawgs.

The game then takes over at 7:05 p.m. with the East Division all-stars up against the West Division all-stars.The day also includes face-painting stations, player autographs and a visit from special guest star and World Series winner Matt Stairs. “This year promises to be bigger and bette,” added Ircandia. “Canadian Major League Baseball legend Matt Stairs is back with autographs and tips for baseball hopefuls of all ages. And the talent on display will again be exceptional. One player we will miss in uniform is Dawgs lefty Matt Wilkinson, who was selected in the recent MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians. But the lineups are stacked with serious talent.
