Has Webb — who knows this offense inside and out from his days with the Bills — done enough to secure a spot on the roster?
Webb directed a 10-play, 44-yard drive culminated by Ryan Santoso’s 49-yard field goal to put the Giants ahead 27-24 with 2:02 remaining, but they gave up the lead with 22 seconds remaining.
Head coach Brian Daboll rested almost all of his starters, including his No. 1 quarterback and top running back, Saquon Barkley. Jones started the first two preseason games. He completed 76.9 percent of his passes , did not have a touchdown pass and tossed one interception. His five offensive series produced one field goal, one rushing touchdown, one punt, one turnover on downs and the one interception.Barkley also played in the first two games.
There was only one starter in the game for the Giants on the offensive line, center Jon Feliciano, and this made sense, as Feliciano had yet to play in the preseason because of a variety of physical ailments. The most noteworthy personnel deployment by Daboll was the decision to start Kenny Golladay at one of the wide receiver spots. The veteran put in an uneven and often quiet training camp and did little in the first two preseason games — one reception for six yards, plus a drop of a Jones pass near the goal line.
