The Queen has been dragged further into UK politics after David Cameron revealed he asked her to intervene in the Scottish independence referendum.
Former UK prime minister David Cameron revealed he asked for the Queen to intervene in 2014 to influence the outcome of the Scottish independence referendum.
Cameron sought to dampen the row on Thursday before adding:"I don't want to say anything more about this and some people would say I've already said too much." Now an interview with Cameron, published on Thursday, will heap further pressure on the monarchy by revealing his role in persuading the Queen to intervene in the final weeks of the 2014 Scottish Independence referendum.
"I remember conversations I had with my private secretary and he had with the Queen's private secretary and I had with the Queen's private secretary, not asking for anything that would be in any way improper or unconstitutional but just a raising of the eyebrow even you know, a quarter of an inch, we thought would make a difference," he said.
